Can light travel through space or not?
Light travels like a wave. But unlike sound waves or water waves, it does not need any matter or material to carry its energy. Nothing travels faster than light energy. It is accelerating through the vacuum of space at 186,400 miles (300,000 km) per second.
Can light travel in space?

Why is infrared the furthest part of the universe?
Why infrared? Because the Universe is expanding; so the more we look back, the faster objects move away from us, which shifts their light towards red. Redshift means that light emitted as ultraviolet or visible light is increasingly shifted to redder wavelengths.
