Can you travel on any train with a one way ticket in advance?
Advance fares are only valid for the date and train indicated on the ticket and seat reservation and are non-refundable. However, you can change the time or date of travel before the departure of the first booked train.
Can I use my train ticket on another train?
You can only take the train for which you have received a ticket. If you wish to depart earlier or later, you will need to cancel and re-book your ticket, if your fare conditions permit. Once this is done, you can then choose a new departure time for your ticket.

Advance tickets are single (one-way) tickets for a specific train, only available for purchase in advance. If you don’t mind being flexible with your travel times, advance tickets can save you a lot. Simply buy the cheapest single ticket for each leg of your journey.
Can I take another train if mine is cancelled?
If the train you purchased a ticket for is canceled or delayed and you decide to travel anyway, special arrangements will be made to accommodate you on another train (although a seat cannot be guaranteed).
Can I take an earlier train with an off-peak ticket?
It depends on the type of ticket; flexible tickets can be used on earlier trains provided that the earlier train also respects the times of the purchased ticket. So, for example, if you want to travel on a super off-peak ticket, you can travel on an earlier train provided it is also authorized super off-peak travel.

Although respecting the rules, you must not board the train after your boarding point. Boarding one to two stations after your boarding point is generally acceptable by the TTE. But any passenger boarding before you will be issued a confirmation ticket against your RAC ticket.

No, you cannot travel on another train with the same ticket because the reserved ticket of the train you missed is not saved on any other train. So in the end, you have to buy a ticket without a reservation and complete your journey.
